Privacy Policy for Website and Call Data

This policy explains how we handle account, website, demo, and caller information. Your business decides what caller data to collect and why. Read the policy, then try the browser demo with a fictional job request.

Who operates the service

TypeScience, trading as Contractor Answering AI, operates this website and the receptionist service. References to we in this policy mean that operator. You may be a customer managing a contractor business, a visitor exploring the website, or someone calling a business that uses our receptionist.

These situations involve different information. An account email helps us provide your subscription, while a caller's project description helps the business respond to an estimate request. The sections below explain what we collect, the service providers involved, and the choices available to customers and callers.

Customer information and caller information

Your business decides what caller information is collected and why, and we process that information on your behalf. Our data processing terms are part of the terms of service. This includes information your receptionist gathers when asking about a remodel, taking a change order message, or noting a supplier update.

Customers and website visitors also provide information directly to us. That can include account details, onboarding answers, and browser demo conversations. A caller does not need to hold an account with us to have information processed when reaching a customer's business.

Account and billing details we collect

We collect account details such as your name, business name, email address, and phone number. These details support your account and use of the service. Billing is handled by our payment processor, and we do not store full card numbers.

The trial and subscription involve account and billing information as well as call information. Entering a card does not change who decides the purpose of collecting a caller's job details: the customer business remains responsible for that decision.

Business information used for onboarding

We collect your onboarding answers and content from the website you direct us to use. This information teaches your receptionist about services, service boundaries, hours, estimate policies, urgent situations, and the person who should receive an urgent call.

The information you provide shapes the questions asked on your calls. For example, your service area helps the receptionist handle a homeowner's location, while your price policy guides its response to a request for a number over the phone. Keep these instructions accurate for your business.

Call information and message delivery

We collect call audio, recordings, transcripts, summaries, and caller numbers to provide the receptionist service. Intake information may include what the caller wants done, a question about an existing job, or details needed for your callback. The customer business sets what information it wants gathered.

Calls, website and demo chats, recordings, transcripts and summaries of trial and customer accounts may be reviewed by authorized staff for quality, support and abuse prevention. Access is limited to those purposes.

Your receptionist announces at the start of each call that it is a virtual assistant and that the call is recorded. These notices cannot be disabled. Customers receive call alerts by email and app push notification, including the summary, urgency tag, transcript, and recording, plus a daily digest email.

Browser demos and website analytics

Demo calls and chats on this website are recorded and transcribed to show the result. Use a fictional business or job scenario when testing the demo. You can hear the intake conversation and see what the resulting message contains before starting a trial.

We use privacy-friendly website analytics and Google Analytics to understand website activity. Google Analytics uses cookies. Website analytics are a separate category from the project details collected when a homeowner calls a customer business, although both involve information covered by this policy.

Providers that help deliver the service

Our service providers include hosting and storage providers, telephone carriers, AI model providers for voice and text, payment processing, email delivery, and analytics providers. These categories describe the services involved in operating the website, handling calls, delivering messages, and supporting subscriptions.

AI providers process voice and text as part of the receptionist service. Our AI model provider, OpenAI, does not train its models on our API data by default. AI processing remains part of answering a call and producing its transcript and summary.

How long we keep recordings and messages

Recordings are kept for the period the customer business chooses, either 30 or 90 days, and then deleted. Transcripts and summaries remain while the account is open. They are deleted within 30 days after the account closes or on request.

These schedules distinguish recorded audio from the written message records. A customer choosing a recording period should also consider how it uses transcripts and summaries for callbacks and project questions. Contact us about deletion requests rather than assuming that ending a recording period also ends the separate transcript retention period.

Personal information and our marketing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use callers' data for our own marketing. A homeowner's description of a proposed kitchen remodel is processed for the customer business's call handling, rather than used to market our service to that homeowner.

This applies to caller information even though a caller may have no subscription or direct account relationship with us. The distinction between the customer account and the caller's information does not change this policy on selling personal information or using caller data for our marketing.

Access, correction, deletion, and opt-out requests

You can request access, correction, deletion, or an opt-out by emailing [email protected]. California residents' rights apply where applicable. Tell us which business or account your request concerns and what information or action you are asking about.

Callers can ask the business they called or contact us directly. Because the customer business decides what caller information is collected and why, its role matters when handling a caller's request. You do not need to become a subscriber to send us a privacy question about your call information.

Children, changes, and contact

The service is not intended for children under 13. Its business purpose is handling contractor calls, account management, and related website use. It is not offered for healthcare use involving protected health information.

Policy changes are dated on this page so you can identify the version you are reading. For privacy requests, email [email protected]; for account or service help, email [email protected]. Review the subscription and data processing terms for customer responsibilities or the call data controls for retention and service limits.
